We have been running our centre since 2009 and have successfully helped many students/children to gain confidence to return to school, continue their studies at college and build their self esteem and confidence. We work with many schools/parents in the local area and have referrals via social services in the North of England and work with Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Education Departments as well as Social Services and schools as far as Windsor, Wantage, and Milton Keynes. Working with children with ASD, ADHD, behavioural and anxiety and more complex needs as well as many other disabilities/mental health. A lot of students are unable to attend full time school or have not been able to continue in main stream school or specialist schools. We work along side the school to help students gain social skills as well as encouraging them to go back to school to continue their education. All our staff are DBS Enhanced checked and have many years experience working in Equine Therapy and Special Education Needs backgrounds.
We use Peninsula for HR and health & safety support to cover and aid us in the safety of our ponies, staff and students
Special Educational Needs
Our Special Educational Needs has taken on a new lease of life offering more than just riding. Sensory and connection work form part of each session, working with the child or adult at their own pace and ability.
Each lesson is specific to the individual, non rider or rider alike. We have introduced more core work and co-ordination for the SEN’s using both pony and other aids, basketball work, visual aids, etc. Our aim is to continually add to and review all our work we do with the SEN sessions.
We also specialise in ground-based and riding activities for children, young people and adults with learning, behavioural and physical difficulties, such as autistic spectrum disorders, emotional, social and behavioural difficulties, low confidence, selective mutism, attachment disorders, Down’s syndrome and epilepsy.
We also help; troubled youth, stress relief symptoms, depression, anxiety, infantile seizures, intrauterine stroke, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, paralysis, sensory integration dysfunction, shaken baby syndrome, angel man syndrome and sensory damage.
The objectives of Horsewyse CIC remain the same today as they did when it was founded in 2009. We are still able to carry out the work the original directors intended when they set up Horsewyse: to provide activities which benefit the community, to provide equine facilitated learning, to provide activities for children and adults with emotional, social, or behavioural difficulties, and more.
